Preparation Step |
| 1. |
Complete 35 hours of project management education training.
You have many options available for receiving the required project management training. Please note that the training is mandatory and you will be required to provide proof of your training *BEFORE* being allowed to sit for the PMP exam. |
| 2. |
Assess your readiness for the exam by taking mock exams.
Complete a minimum of two full length, 175 question, mock exams to assess how well you know the PMP material. This is not to begin studying but, more importantly, to learn what you do not know either at all or well. |
| 3. |
Complete and submit PMI's PMP credential application.
You must be granted permission by PMI to sit for the certification exam. Give yourself at least 3 to 7 days to complete the application. The application is very detailed. |
| 4. |
Register to take the PMP certification exam.
Once you are eligible, PMI will e-mail you examination scheduling instructions with your eligibility code which you will need when scheduling your exam. You can schedule your exam appointment online or by telephone. Full details can be found in the credential handbook and within the examination scheduling instructions. |
| 5. |
Create a study plan and *COMMIT* to it. |
| 6. |
Familiarize yourself with the testing center logistics.
Make sure that you visit the website of your testing center and peruse their posted rules about their testing center. If you cannot find the rules on their website, then call them to ask for the information. |
| 7. |
Get a good night's sleep before the day of the exam.
Tired, sleepy brains rarely make the best decisions. Get rest and be sharp for the exam. |
